My Background
Released from prison (not literal bars, the business casual, cube farm type) in September of 2006, I have since become a Self-Employed Zombie. Using my vast background in all aspects of technology, I am doing a mix of full-time contract work (from home) for companies, to various programming (PHP/Mysql) projects, server troubleshooting and maintenance and of course, a full-time job in and of itself, but doesn’t pay the bills, Macosx.com and No Wonder to maintain.
I believe I have been on the Internet (ie, via an ISP) since October of 1995, or at least that is the oldest email I found in my archives. Prior to that, I began using AOL in 1988 and accessing local bulletin boards (BBS) and running my own back in the day. My first modem was a 2400 baud, wired to my Apple IIGS. I bought my modem at Hypermart, and for some odd reason, I can picture picking the box up in the isle. That was almost 20 years ago. I still remember the day I first used a modem connection, on a 300 baud modem, off of a Mac SE30 connecting to a local Commodore 64 BBS. The good old days.
In 1995, I started doing Web Design and setting up hosting for people. I had wanted to go into the web design business (I had a Mac computer consulting business at the time) and made a good effort to get various businesses and organizations to get on the web. As an early “online” addict, I wanted everyone else to join the bandwagon.
In early 1996, I started my dual-role life. One side being my “day job” career, and the other my “moonlighting” businesses. Both paving their own path, technology related, but almost worlds apart. This dual-career contributed to my “jack of all trades” type background in technology.
